Change one word and feel empowered

There are so many things we remind ourselves that we “should” do, but what if we gave ourselves permission to choose?

Ok, what I mean is, instead of saying “I really should be doing....” we allow ourselves to say “I really could do....” and then decide if you really want to do that.  I feel empowered with my agency when I change those words, should to could opens up freedom and even relief to choose for ones self and not attach shame or guilt to it, if we feel like we have an option and we choose what we feel is best then we don’t feel as angry or resentful toward people or situations and we tend not to beat ourselves up so easily, if I always think I should do something and don’t do it then I feel bad, if I feel like I could do something and don’t do it then at least I made a more conscious decision and take more responsibility for that decision.

Like this morning, I was thinking how I should work out, but I’m just not feeling well so I didn’t want to, but the thought of should was bringing guilt for the way I was feeling.

When I decided I could work out and then asked myself if I wanted to then I felt this Power and strength within me to just go with what was best for me in the moment without the emotion of guilt attached.

Now I  just feel good and firm in my decision and can go through my day knowing that I can continue to make the best decisions for me based on what I want and feel is best, I’m not letting my emotion control my outcome.  Try it out. See how it works for you and if it really makes a difference. I know it does for me.
